getting ready

I made a decision in November 2009 to make 2010 all about me and my health. This blog is a record of my successes and failures along the way. I made a reservation to attend Biggest Loser Fitness Ridge in April for four weeks. I am both excited and nervous about how much exercise I will be doing daily, but I do believe that this experience will change my life. I'm tired of standing on the sidelines, it is my turn to join in.
I was raised in Utah in a family of 4 girls and I had a really great childhood. I loved to waterski, snow ski, swim and camp. The only part about my childhood that I hated was that I was the “fat girl”. My 3 sisters are thin and that is something that I long for. I am the one that is always making sure that everyone else is happy. I worked as a travel agent in my early 20’s and I’ve had the opportunity of traveling around this country and seeing some really great places. I love cruises and the ocean. I moved to San Francisco to work for United Airlines where I met my wonderful husband. We have 2 great children. We moved to Minnesota when my children were young and that is where I live today. I was happy with my size when I got married, but then came children along with the weight that I have never taken off completely. In fact I have continued to get bigger over the last 10 years. The things that I loved doing I no longer do due to my weight. It is no longer fun for me to go on our boat and jump off to swim in the middle of the lake because getting back into the boat is an impossible task. It is no longer fun to fly when you don’t fit into the seat. Enough is enough! I’m tired of sitting on the sidelines and watching everyone I love having a great time. I want back in the game! I want to do the things I love again. So this is my year! I would like to thank my wonderful family both immediate and extended and my friends for their support in my journey. Your support and unconditional love is very much appreciated. I love you all so much.
Isn't it great to have new friends who are trying to accomplish the same task you are! Every time I have tried to lose weight it is suggested to have friends help you. But they can't if they don't have the same goals. I find my best friend often encouraging me to "cheat" on my eating and exercise habits. It's so frustrating. But friends online have really helped. See you on the 25th! I look forward to reading your blog while you are there.
ReplyDelete:) I'm touched to know that I am inspiring you and helping you along the way on your journey. Thank you for sharing your stories along the way as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous that you are on your way to resort already, well, very close. You can do this and are moving your head right where it needs to be by putting you first! As hard as that is, without making ourselves a priority, it won't happen. And it won't get fixed overnight so taking it one day at a time is the way to go. This is it Robbie! This IS the time you will do "IT", whatever "IT" is to you! You are ready to accomplish your goals. And I look forward to reading about them as you do. Stay strong! :)
Aww, I am happy that I am an ispiration to you. I look forward to meeting you next week. Yikes is that soon! WE are going to be awesome and you said it...it is not a race...there is no time frame..you will get to the finish line when you get there. And there is a lot of perks along the way. See you in a week my friend!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you. It is the first day of the rest of your life and you will succeed. There are a lot of people in your corner and praying for you. This is your time, everything else can just wait. God Bless. Love, Joyce
ReplyDeleteA note from St. George, Robbie, it's in the 40s in the a.m., but the days are getting warmer, kind of bouncing around - in the 50s, the 60s and sometimes in the 70s. But it's going to be April, so it will be getting warmer. But walking in the cool is good! Bring a jacket! We're so excited to see you and be your biggest cheerleaders. We know you can do it. This is your year!
ReplyDeleteI'm sooooo EXCITED for you Robbie. We're all behind you 100%! I hope you know I'm there for you and if there's anything I could ever do for you along the way I'm available 24/7 801-910-2667 (and I mean it) This is going to be hard and probably unbearable at times but just hang in there. Work hard and enjoy the moment. This is ROBBIE TIME! Love Ya Cuz...Shelly
